...EXPANDED schedule for the MoMA GingerFilm screenings...

...thanks to Monica Kelly on FB for posting the EXPANDED schedule for the MoMA "Acteurism: Ginger Rogers" exhibit/screening of choice GingerFilms... here's the link:

FULL schedule of MoMA's "Acteurism: Ginger Rogers"

...added to the list (in addition to Top Hat, Follow The Fleet, Stage Door, and Vivacious Lady) are the following GingerFilms:

"Kitty Foyle" (March 4,5,6);

"Lady In The Dark" (March 11,12,13);

"I'll Be Seeing You" (March 18,19,20);

"A Night in the Dormitory (short)" and "The First Traveling Saleslady" (March 25,26,27).

...the thing that jumps out here is Lady in the Dark, and the potential quality of their copy... hopefully all you G-ologists have a copy of this one, but there's not a 'crisp' one I've seen - there may not be. It was shot in Paramount's 'Technicolor', which just did not hold up well over 70 years... REALLY wish Paramount, or whomever owns Paramount, would 'remaster' this one or whatever... again, not the BEST GingerFilm, but... the Jenny scene ALONE is well worth the price of admission...

 Another neat part of the schedule is the pairing of one of Ginger's early 'shorts', "A Night in the Dormitory", with one of her last films (as well as the VERY last 'original studio' RKO movie), "The First Traveling Saleslady"... nice 'bookends' of our girl's film career.

...And it's nice to see "I'll Be Seeing You" getting the accolades it deserves, as a romantic drama (rom-dra?) which hits some topics which weren't too 'warm and fuzzy', especially for a film released in the final stages of WWII... if you haven't seen it, DO...required for all G-ologists... well, heck, ALL of 'em are required viewing, right?

Of course, Kitty speaks for herself...Judas Priest!

Well, hope y'all can somehow catch one or two of these screenings if you are in the NYC area... Hu has no such luck, as South Gingerville is quite a few furlongs away from Gotham... if y'all do, please report in and inform us of anything experienced at the screening.

Hope everyone has a Great Gingery weekend!!!

KIG!

Hu
