Final hours of the poll...

...looks like a race to the finish between Carefree and Top Hat... I knew a lot of y'all are big 'Carefree' fans (yeah, I am too!), so not surprised it is faring so well... a bit weird that 'Shall We Dance' is in last place, although I guess it has pretty tough competition...it's just one I am really the most familiar with, as my daughter loves that film...we watched it over and over...

Anyway, that's about all for now...hope y'all have a great weekend...now is this the 'Independence Day weekend', or is that NEXT weekend? Well, heck... hope everyone celebrates all bloomin' week, how bout that???

The Divorcee review will appear in the weekend edition of G-ology...BANK on it... :-]

Until then...

...various Gingery stuff...

...well, first off, I have been knee-deep in 're-arranging' my home office this weekend...therefore, no real progress on the 'Divorcee' review... but it WILL be done one of these days...  I promise, Miss Rogers...
In the meantime, just a few stories of interest for y'all...

First off, an article about the passing of federal judge Robert J. Kelleher, who was also an avid tennis player, died Wednesday in Los Angeles, aged 99... check the link below... the Ginger angle? Well, jump to the last sentence of the article for that...

Robert Kellher obit

This next article addresses an event probably wrapping up as I type...sorry I didn't find it a bit earlier, but...it's concerning Ginger's Duesenberg, which is appearing at a car show in Kansas City AS I TYPE (Sunday, 6/24)...well, hope someone out there got to see it, but to me, it's pretty cool the owner is 'taking it around' to different shows...good sign... and I think that it may be Ginger's way of dropping a hint to ME to get cracking on that REVIEW!  :-]

Ginger's Duesenberg at Kansas City Car Show

------------------------

Well, wrapping up with a pretty thorough review of the new book, The Astaires, by Kathleen Riley. I haven't read it yet, but will try to one of these years (oof) ...my Ma HAS read it (she's an avid reader), says it's pretty interesting, but not much Ginger mentioned...well, after all, it IS about Fred and Adele... but this review has its first few paragraphs discussing Fred and Ginger's routine in 'Night and Day' from The Gay Divorcee (yeah, yeah, Ginger, I'll get right on that review...) ...and how it circumvented the Hays Office... as it was QUITE the 'interpretive dance', shall we say... :-]

NYT review of 'The Astaires'

--------------------------

Well, that's all I got...for now...  oh, did I mention I'm working on the review for The Gay Divorcee? ...hope y'all are having a great weekend, and until that review is reality,

...Keep It Gingery, y'all!

...hey, when's the last time we had a...

...GingerPoll? Quite awhile, honestly! Well, as I am slaving away on 'The Gay Divorcee' review (it's gonna be sometime next week, y'all...), I started thinking...since this is the first of five GandF films directed by Ginger's bud, Mark Sandrich, I'd just post this simple poll (you see where we're rolling toward, right?

Which of the Mark Sandrich - directed GandF films is your favorite?

The Gay Divorcee

Top Hat

Follow The Fleet

Shall We Dance

Carefree
...save for George Stevens' "Swing Time", Sandrich truly was THE 'director of the franchise'...so, VERY begrudgingly, we must give him props for that... but he should have been a bit more cordial to our girl, y'know?

Anyway, there's the poll... hopefully I'll make a decent dent in the 'Divorcee' review this weekend...I'll most likely 'minimize' the number of screen caps for the dances, and MAY defer to the 'Divorcee' blog...THAT'S probably gonna be the norm from here on, as the 'uber-Ginger-face-time' movies will just be impossible to have all the caps in one review post... I KNEW there was a reason to set all of those up!

Hope the weekend goes well for all of y'all out there...we have clear skies and upper 80s, so I'll probably do some outdoor stuff... about that time, right?

Remember, vote early and often! ...and,

Keep It Gingery!

...I'm back, y'all...

...Just to let ya know, we are back from vacation...overall, it was nice, but...a bit of sickness reared its ugly head, and a bit of rain made for an abbreviated agenda...but the youngsters got in a good bit of swimming, so turned out OK, and everyone is pretty well as we speak.
-----
...On to the review for 'The Gay Divorcee'...I'm getting a bit psyched for this review, since there's a LOT of ground to cover...of course, screen caps will be somewhat 'abbreviated', especially the dance routines...well, in the review itself...for 'extended coverage', you'll have to sashay (not unlike Miss Rogers is doing above...I think if you looked up 'sashay' in Webster's, this pic would fit perfectly...) over to the GINGEROLOGY film blog for 'TheGayDivorcee'...
-----
...speaking of which, I hope y'all have checked out the YoungManOfManhattan blog, which is the 'rough draft' of how ALL the film blogs will eventually be set up... again, if you have ANY suggestions for setup, please reply...most likely to this post...I'm going to try to keep up with any comments in the film blogs, but I may just set up a 'general comment' section at the top of each blog... and, as for G-ology, comments are 'pending approval', which is unfortunately a product of our times... oh well.
-----
Glad to be back... I have a test on Saturday Morning, but should be back at it after that...so, until then...

Keep It Gingery!!!

...Shake That Powder Puff...

...the 'previously unreleased' screencaps of Miss Lily doin' that thang...

...well, thanks again for the nice response to the Upper World review... hope ya get a chance to see the film...
-----
Well, The staff of Gingerology is off on vacation in a few days, but a post MAY sneak into the plans whilst away from home base... otherwise, the 'construction' of the 'FilmBlogs' are still underway... I am going to set up all 'general' features on the first 'full length' film blog, Young Man of Manhattan...so, be checking in on that one every now and again, and PLEASE throw in any suggestions for the blog 'content'...once YMOM is 'set-up', then it's on to all the others in similar fashion, one-by-one... and of course, The Gay Divorcee is on the way, review-wise...That one may require a 'two-part' review... Hmmm... stay tuned...

Hope everyone is having a great intro to summer... stay safe and have FUN!!!!
