BROADWAY BAD
(February 24, 1933 - Fox Films)

Scenarists: Maude Fulton and Arthur Kober.
Based on a story by: William R. Lipman and A. Washington Pezet.
Cinematography by: George Barnes.
Music: Arthur Lange (score), Hugo Friedhofer (orchestrator).

Also Starring: Joan Blondell (as Tony Landers), Ricardo Cortez (as Craig Cutting), Adrienne Ames (as Aileen), Allen Vincent (as Bob North), Francis McDonald (as Charley Davis), Fredrick Burton (as Robert North, Sr.), Ronnie Cosby (as 'Big Fella'), Donald Crisp (as Darrall).
UNCREDITED CAST: Eddie Berger (as Newsboy), Spencer Charters (as Lew Gordon), John Davidson (as The Prince), Betty Francisco (as Showgirl), Carmelita Geraghty (as Showgirl), Harold Goodwin (as Reporter), Henry Hall (as Bailiff), Eddie Kane (as Eddie Berger - Jeweler), Charlotte Merriam (as Showgirl), Geneva Mitchell (as Showgirl), Claudia Morgan (as Showgirl), Matty Roubert (as Newsboy), Margaret Seddon (as Bixby), Larry Steers (as Business Associate), Phil Tead (as Joe Flynn), and Max Wagner (as Reporter).
Ginger's Character: Flip Daly.
Ginger's 'Screen Time': Approximately 5 Minutes and 54 Seconds (9.9% of the film).
GingerTunes: None
Gingery Goodness Factor (GGF) - (1-10): 7.0 - Pretty good Gingery stuff, as the 'sidekick' to Joan Blondell's Tony character - Flip, who gets a few zingers in here and there. Generally, tho, Ginger is the 'supportive friend', which limits the sassiness overall.
Film Quality (1-10): 7.0 - not restored, and not shown on any network I am aware of...a typical 'public domain' film...at best fair shape.
Available From: Internet (I got a copy from eBay).
Huey's Review for GINGEROLOGY: Broadway Bad is a fair little movie that centers on chorus girl Tony Landers (Joan Blondell) and her trials and tribulations. Ginger plays Flip Daly, who is Tony's roommate, fellow hoofer, and all-around best bud (BTW...who came up with these names? Tony and Flip? Aren't those dude names? I mean, I've heard of 'Toni' used for ladies, but 'Flip'? The only 'Flip' I know of is Flip Wilson...and he was a dude...well, unless he was in 'Geraldine' Mode..."What you see is what you GET, baby!"... er, y'all probably don't remember that... OK, mondo rabbit trail endeth HERE...well, here's a link to Geraldine...don't say I didn't warn you... Geraldine Diet 7-UP ).
Tony has a deadbeat husband (although he is from a wealthy family...which has pretty much disowned him...most likely due to his marriage to a chorus girl) who is a bit more than wary of Tony's new boss, Craig Cutting (Ricardo Cortez) - CC has quite a reputation for taking a 'personal interest' of the leading ladies of his production...although the truth is he is quite the gentleman.
As Tony is installed as the 'new' leading lady, of course the former one must step down - which in this case is Aileen (Adrienne Ames). Of course, Aileen isn't going quietly into that good night, so she decides to bust Tony's chops by making up stories of Craig's 'niceties', which in the process gets Tony all flustered, and Flip all cranked up...SassyGinger ensues as a result, with Flip going off on Ol' Ail.
Well, at this point Tony is pretty hesitant about the whole state of affairs, since although Craig has been the perfect gentleman, he has also 'bolstered' Tony's financial status with extra checks - hey, he's just a nice guy. Flip tries to put her at ease, and does a fair job of it.
At the 'aftershow party' (dang...they ALWAYS have those, don't they? When do these people in the 30's SLEEP?) at Craig's pad, Tony decides to ask him about the checks he has been ripping off for her, and wants him to give her the canceled ones...not sure why, except that maybe she doesn't want a 'paper trail' hanging over each of them. Well, of course, Tony's gooberhead hub shows up unannounced, and promptly grabs the checks, puts dos y dos together, and promptly files for divorce.
As a result, Tony is placed in a nice, albeit swarthy, position of being the 'UBER-Gold Digger' (Joan getting some practice chops in for '33), with Craig elevating her whole portfolio to unprecedented levels, while all the time remaining a perfect gentleman.
Flip hangs in there as Tony's pal, even when Tony is pretty much shutting everyone else out of her life, even though she is the MAIN stage attraction for the next few years, racking up oodles of dough. The ulterior motive? Pretty good, as it turns out... Tony has a young un who is being cared for quite well...but of course, she doesn't want the child to be exposed the media, so she has him cared for at an 'undisclosed location'...well, gooberhead hub gets back on the scene, and basically kidnaps the kid, as he is in debt, and needs some dough... he ultimately takes Tony to court, saying she is an unfit mom, and he wants custody...and alimony to boot... and, that's about all I'll give you here, leaving the rest for you to discover.
Overall, a fair little movie, clocking in at an hour...Joan Blondell is very nice here... and of course, Ginger does her thing in a limited role.

Favorite Ginger Moments: This one is pretty easy...the scene with Ginger and Joan talking, just after 'Flip' busts Aileen's chops...they are both looking straight into the camera, as if they are looking into the mirror, putting makeup on (the SECOND movie in a row Ginger is putting goop on her face...) Just some neat dialogue, and really both are very fetching here, despite the makeup work...

We first meet Flip in the sack, taking messages for an absent Miss Landers...

...what kind of varmint is that upon the bed? Some kind of fuzzy pup, I surmise...

Flip and Aileen do NOT exchange Christmas cards, it's safe to say...

...Flip is about to trip...DANG, Ginger is so cute when she is angry...those eyes just light up! Think I've said that before, but hey, it bears repeating, IMHO...

...here we go... well, it's not too extensive, but Flip is close to the edge...Aileen walks away, much to her benefit...

Here we start the 'Huey's Favorite Scene' sequence... I cap'd a heap of pics from this scene, and I just can't see any that I don't want to post....they are ALL just awesome, of Ginger and Joan... Flip is basically reassuring Tony that Aileen is a yutz, Tony's hub is a gooberhead, Craig is really a pretty nice guy, and for her not to worry about folks 'talking'... but these pics are great...I'm just gonna shutup for a bit and let the pics speak for themselves, y'all...

...just something pretty dang cool about ladies getting ready, making up and all...for a guy, the process is quite mysterious, thus of interest (to me, anyway...especially when Ginger is involved! And Miss Blondell is a BIG bonus!)

...on to the shindig...where the band is loose and the bandleader is tight...

Flip can MC with the best of them, as she announces the band and location to all the folks in radioland...or in 'ryeland' in this case...

...if I had to have a 'bit role' in this film, this one would be it, of course...

Tony is rolling in the dough after the divorce (as a result of Craig keeping her happy, not from anything the hub had...), and Flip is the only person she confides in... this scene is the one where you see a lot of stills from, but the scene itself is pretty short (not unlike Ginger's outfit...yow!), and none of the stills out there seem to match the scene...thus they are 'publicity stills'... hey, as long as Ginger's in 'em, we can call them whatever!

...I just think this dress is cool on Ginger...as usual, eh?

This pic is when the gooberhead hub shows up to hassle Tony... Ginger is, well, Ginger, of course, and awesome looking, but my personal opinion is there's a BIT too much eye shadow here...or, heck, it could just be the 'seventy-year old film shadows' at work...

...Flip now in the courtroom where Tony's story is being spilled out for all to gawk over... hey, I just thought of this...maybe 'Flip' is Flip because of her hair style...I guess that is considered a 'flip', eh? Far be it from me to discern hair styles and their bearing on character names...but while we are on hair, what about the hair COLOR? It is VERY reddish here...not that there's anything WRONG with that...not at ALLLLL, y'all...

...The mother and child reunion is only a motion away...as Aunt Flip looks on...

Other Reviews:
"...The happy ending mostly concerns Miss Blondell and Mr. Cortez, with hisses for Miss Ames and Mr. Vincent. The role is one of Blondell's best, and she is ably supported by Mr. Cortez, Miss Ames and Ginger Rogers in parts of varying importance." - New York American
"Mr. Cortez is the most amusing of the players as the pleasantly cynical playboy with the evil reputation. Miss Blondell suffers the double burden of a foolish part and uncomplimentary photography. Ginger Rogers appears as a chorus girl with a sentimental streak." - New York Times
"Broadway Bad is a weak little chorus girl picture." - New York Sun
From GINGER: My Story: "With only a week's rest [from completion of 42nd Street], I immediately began Broadway Bad, with Joan Blondell and ably directed by Sidney Lanfield. Oddly enough, this little "B&B" had one of Hollywood's top photographers, George Barnes, as its cinematographer."

Miscellaneous Stuff:
--- Joan Blondell replaced Joan Bennett in the role of Tony (short for 'Antoinette').
--- Film photographer George Barnes also happened to be Miss Blondell's hubby at the time.
--- The film was mentioned in the 2003 TV documentary "Complicated Women", described on IMDb as "A look at actresses who starred in films with thought-provoking subjects made between 1929 and 1934 - before the Hollywood Production Code was enforced." BTW - this sounds like a pretty cool doc - would like to see it sometime!
--- IMDb notes this film as being released before 42nd Street, but Ginger's bio and a few other sources note 42nd Street first, then 'BB'... Ginger may well be going with the 'production dates', as 42nd Street probably had a bit more editing before release...in any event, I'm sticking with the way Ginger lists them, right or wrong...cause Ginger is right, even when she's wrong!

GingerFilm Ranking: #9

#11 - Suicide Fleet
#12 - Follow The Leader
#13 - Honor Among Lovers
#14 - Hat Check Girl***
*** - Not viewed due to unavailability.

Up Next: Gold Diggers of 1933... this is the one that has been vexing me as to its 'ranking' on the big board, as the first 5 or so minutes are arguably Huey's ALL-TIME favorite Ginger moments ever committed to film... but she just isn't in the movie much after that... Why oh WHY didn't they keep the 'Torch Song' number in there??? Well, we will sort it out for ya...

Until then...

Prague's Dancing House...

...This is yet ANOTHER cool 'landmark' I was made aware of by the folks that informed me of "Ginger's" restaurant in Times Square and also the "Ginger Film Festival" near their place in Maryland - outside of Washington D.C., with the cool "picture box" display of Gingerbilia...

The pic above is an office and 'events' building in Prague, Czech Republic...called 'Dancing House'...the Ginger connection? Well, of course...it has been nicknamed "Fred and Ginger" by the locals, as the two 'towers' somewhat resemble a dancing couple...some imagination is necessary, but yeah, I can see it... here is a 'wiki link' to the place (note the first reference to the building's nickname is "Ginger and Fred"...a gingerologist entry on wiki, perhaps? :-]  ):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dancing_House

The folks in question (who are actually my wife's aunt and uncle) were taking a tour of Europe (well, they were in Prague on this particular day, duh... it was an EXTENSIVE tour...) and saw this on a postcard, and they of course thought of me when they saw Ginger mentioned... for folks who are at best indifferent about Ginger, they sure run into a heap of Gingery goodness!

For even MORE Ginger links to these folks...their kids are the folks we stayed with in KC for the Gingertennial!!! I'm waiting any day for someone in this family to unearth "Hat Check Girl"... they seem to have the 'knack' for finding Ginger stuff!!!

Hope everyone is well out there... In the States, it is just dang HOT, y'all!! Hope folks in other regions of the orb aren't as heated up as we are... but hey, that's just part of summer, right?

I am fixing to go make sure I have responded to folks who posted and/or commented during my trip...honestly, I think I haven't replied much on Gingerology, but hopefully DID go around the horn of other sites with Gingery posts for 7/16/11... speaking of which, next up on the review series is 'Broadway Bad', which is limited Ginger...mainly Joan Blondell, which I am a pretty big fan of, also, so...should be OK. Hopefully I will get it cranked out by the weekend. Until then...

KIG, everybody!!!

...PICS!

Well, hopefully these will be informative...at the end of the day, they are a series of pics of the perimeter of 100 West Moore Street, and a few pics of the 'lot' on 3306 Bellefontaine... so, without further ado, here ya go...

It was 100 degrees on the 100th year of Ginger, heading towards 100 West Moore Street...

...the plaque that verifies our location...

...and the street signage to boot.

The 'moment of truth', as Kat and I introduce ourselves to the homeowner...Kat's daughter, 'Baby', is just behind the leftmost post...

A pretty good pic of the conversation, as nobody is really 'facing the camera', yet in plain sight, if that makes any sense... these last two pics were taken by my wife from the cool comfort of the minivan, whilst keeping 'Bam-Bam' in check.

The start of the 'perimeter shots'...this one is the Southwest corner...

...the Southeast corner - a pretty 'common' shot of the place...

...another 'SE corner', a bit more 'straight on...

...the East exterior, looking Northward...note the change in roof line, which hints at the back portion being a later addition...

...a 'full shot' of the East wall, showing a bit better where the roof lines change in back... remember, the original house was four rooms... F&GM, how many rooms did you count when you went in?  :-]

...a detail of the East wall foundation area, just to show the 'true age' of the place, and how much work has to be put into it...lots of stone foundations around this area...not sure of the stone type...granite, maybe?

A view of the back yard, again from the east wall side... a few big trees exist, which may have been there at some stage 100 years ago...

What appears to be the largest tree on the lot, which is jammed against the Northeast corner of the house... this puppy could well be over a century old... oh, check out the squirrel in the gutter (look close).

The North (rear) wall... another good shot of the stone foundation wall, which has had to be re-mortared - probably quite a few times over the decades...

The Northwest corner of the house, again in the back... the roof lines of the door area clearly indicate it is an add-on... I would wager the original house had its back exterior wall at the farthest gutter downspout shown at the right of this pic, at the 'high soffit' roof line...

...and it's on to Bellefontaine...I always want to put a 'u' in it to make it 'foUntaine', but, nope, here's the official spelling shown at the 3300 block...

...the 3400 block sign, which shows in the background a pretty good representation of the houses in the area...note the stone columns at the porch overhangs...

Bellefontaine Street...facing south, in front of Ginger's Grandfolks' house, which is to the right of this pic - well just out of the picture...

...and here is the now vacant lot, at what used to be (and still is, I guess) 3306 Bellefontaine Avenue...

...a 'straight-on' shot of the lot, which is not very descriptive... looks like grass grows pretty well, there... not sure what the gray things are at the back...dog houses, perhaps? I feel sure that one of the adjoining houses purchased the lot for their use, which makes sense... probably should have knocked on a few doors, but was a bit crunched for time...maybe one day in the future...

...and a final shot of the lot - the house on the far side is again pretty indicative of the houses built in this area, although I remember 3306 having a round 'turret' deal on one of its upper floor sides... maybe I'm dreaming that up...

Well, that documents the proceedings pretty thoroughly, I suppose... was a great experience to be there on that special day, as it was a 'once-in-a-lifetime' shot, ya know? Thanks again to the homeowner at 100 West Moore for allowing us to take up some of his weekend... and, we might have created a new Gingerologist in the process!

And, again, I am going to spend the next few days 'backtracking' on all the stuff I missed last week... hope everyone had a great Gingertennial!!! On to #101, right? :-}

KIG!!!

Review of July 16, 2011...

...back at Huey's Home Base in the Ham...

FIRST, Thanks to everyone who has commented and left links to Gingery goodness over the last week...honestly, I am just now 'catching up' with the comments... can't wait to check out all the stuff! I will 'backtrack' over the next day or so, and hopefully respond to all comments (it's kind of a 'pet peeve' of mine, that I have to reply to everyone... not to 'get the last word in', but to make sure folks know I have read comments...which are ALWAYS greatly appreciated, since they make G-ology 'tick'!)

SECOND, I will have the pics ready in a day or two... our picture 'process' is an arduous one, with my wife's computer crashing recently (she loads the pics on her machine), but...should be able to get them loaded soon... I will probably just post the pics in its own post, if that's cool, y'all... they are pretty cool, not really much you haven't seen before, except I DID pretty much go around the perimeter of the house and took pics at various angles...the front view is generally what you see everywhere, so hopefully the 'rest of the story' will be of interest...

THIRD, I again want to give a 'shout-out' to Kat and Baby (Fred and Ginger Mad), whom I met on the right day at the right place...it was very nice to meet y'all! Sorry we didn't have a heap of time to talk, but we had an 'agenda' with the folks we were staying with... but hey, we did what we set out to do, right? F&GM actually went IN the house, y'all, whereas I did not... I talked to the owner, who said it was pretty 'modernized', but yeah, it would have been cool to see it, anyway...so that's one ya got on me, F&GM!!! :-} ...Hope y'all found some great Gingery stuff in California...there's a good bit out there, but not sure how 'accessible' it is... I will hopefully trek out there one day to do the 'GingerTrail'!

FOURTH, As to the day itself for Huey...
Actually, I was kind of jazzed up the night before...not much 'deep sleep'...at one point I looked over at the clock, and it said 1:45 A.M....which, of course, got me to thinking...Ginger came into the world at 2:00 A.M. of July 16, 1911...so, for all intents and purposes, the 'official' 100 years was to be in 15 minutes...so I grabbed the iPhone and scrawled out the 'Happy Birthday' post...waited 5 or so minutes to make it EXACTLY 2:00 A.M., of course... when I crawled back into the bed, my wife mumbled, "You just blogged something, didn't ya?"
Guilty as charged, of course... but seriously, now is a good point to note that my wife was just AWESOME in this endeavor, driving out with me to Moore Street and Bellefountaine - although she stayed in the van with 'Bam-Bam' and the A/C running full blast, because, well, it was dang near 100 degrees, y'all! Anyway, she was MOST supportive, and for that I say, Thanks, Margie!!!
We arrived at 100 West Moore Street around 10:30 A.M., and drove around a time or two, mainly to figure out where to park - we ended up across the street - honestly, West Moore is not that wide... my wife said that an 18-wheeler came through while she was sitting there and she thought she would have to move...it got through ok, tho...I didn't remember that, but I may have been in the back of the lot...
As we drove up, I saw a lady and child walking nearby, and sure enough, it was Kat and Baby! I introduced myself, and jumped out to greet her. My wife said hi, but had to stay in the van with Bam-Bam. She did get some pics and even a video of the proceedings - I will sort all that out and post accordingly at a later date...
Anyway, Kat and I talked a bit, and turned our attention to the house, of course... we took pics of the plaque from the 'dedication day' back in 1994. Then Kat knocked on the door, and a minute or two later, the homeowner came out. He was a younger fellow - for some reason I thought an older lady lived there...not sure where that idea came from.  Anyway, Kat and I both proceeded to bombard him with all the reasons why we were there bugging him on a Saturday morning... he was quite friendly, and seemed pretty cool with the idea that folks were there for the occasion. He said an older couple came by earlier in the day for a few moments, so at least he wasn't totally taken by surprise by us.
I asked him if it was OK to take some pics around the outside of the place, and he was fine with it...so off I went. The house is on the corner of the block, so it's pretty easy to walk around, although the 'next door neighbor' side was fenced up a bit, with a patio area...probably not original to the house. The 'street' side and the backyard area was pretty 'open', with no fences, and just a driveway at the back of the lot... so it was pretty close to how it was 100 years ago, although the smaller trees were obviously not there.
After my 'survey' of the house exterior, I talked to the homeowner about the historical board in Independence, and their 'interaction' with the house. He said the main thing is that any work he wants to do to the place has to be reviewed and approved by the board before commencing with it, which is pretty common for historical buildings. I also asked if there were any plans by the board to assist in restoration of the house, the answer to which was no... but, he is planning on doing a few things, including possibly replacing the front porch columns... I gave him my info and said if that ever happens, call me...I'll gladly take the originals off his hands!
We yakked a bit more about general stuff, but soon I had to leave out, since we had to meet up with other folks for lunch...and I still wanted to hit 3306 Bellefountaine, so...off we went! Said a final bye to Kat and Baby, who were to leave that night for L.A. and the GingerTrail out there...
As for Bellefountaine in KC, the distance was really not that far, well, on the interstate, anyway...maybe 15 minutes - once you know where it is. It was pretty much what I thought it would be...a vacant lot... BUT, it was cool to see the street in general, and see the other houses, which had to be of the same time frame, since 3306 was slap in the middle of the block. So, I can at least say 'been there, done that'.
Well, that's about it...a very neat day, and really the best place I can think to be on 7/16/11... but the 'down' side is I did miss a lot of the proceedings that took place that weekend, including Maggie's 'GingerFest'...hope that went well, Maggie! Looks like quite a few participated...hey, maybe we can do that again sometime... maybe when an anniversary of one of Ginger's big movies occurs...
I will sort out the pics soon and post - probably this weekend - the best ones of the lot, and will 'caption' each of them...more thoughts will be conveyed with the pics.

Until then, y'all... as always and FOREVER,

KIG!!!

...a great day!

Well, had a very cool Gingertennial!

Met F&G-Mad at 100 West Moore Street around 10 am or so... wonderful to meet you and your daughter! they are en route to Hollywood to check out Ginger's digs out there. Safe journeys, F&G-M!!!

We met the owner of the house, who was very cordial to us...took plenty of pics, and got to find out a few things about the house 'status'...sounds like it is in pretty good hands.

After we left the birthplace, I, along with my wife and son (Bam-Bam), went over to 3306 Bellefountaine...yup, it's a vacant lot... But just to say I've been there, ya know?

We went on to lunch with our hosts, and checked out some shopping... Then came home for a bit, then barbecue for supper tonight.

We have gobs of pics, so will be posting when we get back to the Ham on Wednesday. In the meantime, thanks for all the posts - again, I will definitely get back with each of you next week...hope everyone had an unforgettable Gingertennial!!!

KIG, Y'all!!!!

...Gingertennial Eve...

I am pretty hopped up about tomorrow, y'all! We plan on getting over to Moore Street mid-morning... We are staying in Olathe, KS, which is just over the Missouri line.
We did go today to a local water park, and had a blast... Although Huey is REALLY feeling those 44 years he has under his belt...oof.

The plan of 'attack' tomorrow will be to hit Moore St. first, then the general area around there ( the Sand Bldg is a good idea, Maggie!) Then may try to figure out if anything else is cooking in Independence regarding the Gingertennial... I forgot to mention there are a few things I found going on in L.A. for the G-tennial, so check your local listings.

I will definitely take a heap of pics, and might try a video, but honestly not much 'action', unless I am run off by an angry homeowner! But, I will have to sort those out upon my return...the iPhone is cool, but I'm just not up to speed enough on it.

So, until tomorrow, hoping everyone has an unforgettable Gingertennial, and I am ready to get everything posted! Sorry I haven't responded to y'all the last few days, but looks like a lot of cool links I want to check out!

KIG, y'all!!!
Hope to have an 'epic post' tomorrow!

Well, got into KC about 6 pm... LONG trip, but no problems... Hope to check out some stuff tomorrow, but most likely Saturday... I think we are heading to a water park tomorrow.

Hope this post works OK... Using my wife's iPhone, so a new 'first' for G-ology.
Well, I am wore out, y'all...drove eleven hours on about four hours sleep...woof.

Will have more updates tomorrow...but I am zonking out soon,y'all...

...AND THEY'RE OFF!!!

...why we are leaving at 5 a.m. is a bit perplexing, but...should get there by late afternoon...or at least by suppertime...
Thus begins the journey to Independence...the 'GingerQuest', if you will... to where it all began...
I will be posting 'small updates' as possible, from a smart phone if possible...that's a first for Huey, so be patient, y'all...

OK - here is the link to Maggie's awesome new blog (well, she 'transferred' Silver Screen Dream to WordPress...), and info regarding the proper celebratory procedures for Saturday:

Thoughts regarding TCM...

...and the absence of any GingerFilms on the July 16, 2011 schedule...

...yes, I'm kind of surprised a bit too, Ginger...

First off, let's make one thing perfectly clear... TCM is no doubt the #1 classic movie network, PERIOD! It is our prime resource for not only much of Ginger's work, but for ALL the awesome movies we love from the Golden Era...let's sincerely hope it stays put, and keeps on doing what it does (and PLEASE, no 'original series', save for the occasional documentary like the one not long ago about movie studio history...).

Second, it is a bit hard to OVERTLY complain about the frequency of GingerFilms aired in general...they typically get 3-4 in a month, and honestly, after GingerMarch 2010, there's just no way the network can EVER be anything less than aces in my book, even if they NEVER show another GingerFilm...oof, that IS a bad thought, tho...

And third, I am pretty dang sure that "Mr. TCM" himself (no, not Uncle Ted), Robert Osbourne, is a substantial Ginger fan, which honestly perplexes me even more why 7/16 is Ginger-free on TCM....I'm not really sure if Rob has much input as to the scheduling at this point, anyway (I just read he is on 'sabbatical' for three months, to recuperate from surgery...here's a 'get well soon' from all the folks at Gingerology, Rob!). The closest they have to ANYTHING Gingery is the movie "Night and Day" which is about the life of Cole Porter, and stars Cary Grant - supposed to be a pretty good movie...

SO, having said all of that...while it's obvious I will still be a MAJOR supporter of TCM, it just...'disappoints' me a good bit that a GingerFilm isn't there on THAT day, of all days...it's even on a Saturday, so even showing a few early in the day would work for most folks!

I honestly haven't 'put my two cents in' over at the TCM site regarding the situation, so I guess I can't complain much, eh? Well, except over here...

OK...rant over...if you can call it that... I'm sure y'all will celebrate the Gingertennial with your fav GingerFilms anyway, right? Feel free to reply with your plans for Saturday... I am interested!

KIG, y'all... yes, ESPECIALLY you folks at TCM...what are we gonna DO with y'all?
